Alipay+ Expands Presence in Japan, Sees Surge in Transactions

Douglas Feagin, President of Ant International, highlighted Alipay+'s growing footprint in Japan, covering 2 million merchants and accounting for 10% of inbound tourist spending.

Alipay+ is focused on enhancing its coverage in Asia and plans to expand into Europe and the U.S. in the future. The transaction volume of Alipay+'s partner e-payment tools in Japan doubled year-on-year in the first three weeks of last month.

Currently spanning 57 regions and connected to over 25 wallet and banking apps, Alipay+ continues to experience month-on-month growth. In Japan, the adoption of Alipay+ has led to significant increases in transaction volumes and frequencies, with notable spikes in cross-border mobile payments and transactions at flagship department stores like Daimaru.
