$Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.US)$ I think from a risk reward standpoint you're better off buying the leverage chip ETF SOXL. AMD comprises a percentage within that ETF but you also get the entire other basket in order for AMD to hit a new high you're going to see about a 50% greater return in this basket versus AMD.

  • Salmon Klein : amd is coming to 400 dollars by the end of the year...hopefully

  • GuruGuruGulu : that is like extreme leverage...

  • 10baggerbammOP : you're in the market for one reason and one reason only and that's to make money.. AMD is an amazing company but many understand that Nvidia has products that Andy does not have and will never have in the foreseeable 24-month business cycle and that assumes in video will not continue to engineer design new products. so for myself owning a basket of chips, provides diversification that's number one number two it is leveraged so as AMD produces positive results I benefit from that greater than you do because it will lift the whole sector and this is a leveraged basket of that sector alternatively should anyone company stumble I don't suffer that extreme loss. this morning or I should say yesterday micron great earnings I don't own micron stock directly but in this basket I do own it and as a percentage my returns on micron this morning are better than the long shareholders.

  • 10baggerbammOP Salmon Klein: I don't believe they're going to hit 400 you have to be realistic I don't believe hope has anything to do with investments I've always said if it comes down to hope you're fucked already. but let's just suppose you're right do you know how high that basket soxl will be? it will probably be up to 90 or 100 as a basket at that point in time minimum when AMD crosses 400 because Nvidia and supermicro will be up dramatically as well.

  • Salmon Klein 10baggerbammOP: money may migrate at some point from nvidia to amd...or no...right now is a monopoly by nvidia...once amd start catching up will see increase in revenue etc...that's why this stock is a monster bro...it's a lomg hold

  • 10baggerbammOP Salmon Klein: a rising tide raises All ships. AMD is a distant second will they surpass Nvidia maybe probably I don't know I'm not smart enough to know but I do know one thing Jensen is not going to sit on his laurels they're constantly going to be innovating coming up with the next generation chip that's 10x faster that uses 90% less energy

  • Salmon Klein 10baggerbammOP: sure why not both can keep growing...at present they are the only ones making best chips...nvidia well ahead...AI is future as Internet was 20 years ago...look all business models nowaydays are based on internet (data, ecommerce, software, etc)...for next technology you need infrastructure...starting from chips amd many many more...so is a great time to invest in future and amd is one of the best options

  • 10baggerbammOP Salmon Klein: they will keep growing both of them I'm just not going to try to pick who comes in first who comes in second I own Nvidia stock outright but I also own soxl in size knowing that it goes through cycles. on good days you feel euphoric on bad days like we had earlier this week it's a kick in the balls and every time you get up you're getting throttled full force right in the balls again. blow me down that's when you have to buy more it's difficult but that's when you have to buy more because this sector is changing the world this sector is the future it is the next industrial revolution it is larger than personal computing of the '80s than the internet of the 90s so you have to be willing to go through the cycles of pain to get to the pot of gold at the end

  • AffinityLiving : But SOXL is not meant for long term hold, whereas AMD you can hold as long as you want and pass it onto your kids one day.
