2023 Recap | Who is the Most Generous Dividend Payer in Malaysia for 2023?
In 2023, banks made up nearly half of the top 10 high-yield dividend stocks list. Among them, $MBSB(1171.MY$ emerged as the top performer with a dividend yield TTM approaching 12% and a YTD return of 32.22%. The other three local banking giants, $RHBBANK(1066.MY$, $MAYBANK(1155.MY$, and $ABMB(2488.MY$, also had high dividend yields of 7.38%, 6.64%, and 6.47%, respectively.
MBSB Bank distributed a dividend of 0.085 MYR per share in April 2023, marking its first dividend payment since 2021. MBSB used to be a non-bank lending institution. After merging with Asian Finance Bank Limited (AFB), it transformed into a bank entity in 2018. Kenanga Research said investors have rallied strongly on the back of strengthened prospects fuelled by MBSB's inorganic growth and synergistic benefits to be reaped from the nearing completion of its merger with MIDF group.
