What is pairs trading?
@nerdbull1669: "Pairs trading is a market-neutral strategy that relies on statistical analysis to identify pairs of assets with a historical correlation. The basic premise is that even highly correlated assets can temporarily deviate from their usual price relationship. The goal of the pairs trader is to identify these deviations and take advantage of them."

Understand the logic first and then try it out
@EmmaR09: "So, for example. A pair trade of tech companies could be: Company A and Company B, that historically exhibit a strong positive correlation. However, due to recent market developments, Company A has experienced a significant price decline, while Company B has remained relatively stable. We anticipate that the prices of these two stocks will converge over a six-month time horizon."

Does pairs trading strategy actually work?
@ZnWC: "PTS is based on past data and may not be able to replicate into future investment. In the above example, I didn't really short Tesla and long on Twitter. This was because the share price of Tesla and Twitter fluctuated as the acquisition was not smooth sailing. At one point, Elon Musk reversed it's decision and Twitter share price crashed more than 10%. Not many will be able to use PTS to make profit unless you can manage your fear (panic sell) and greed (FOMO)."

Go long or go short?
@SpyderCall: "There are several instances when a positive catalyst for one security can be a negative catalyst for another type of security. This can happen for many reasons, such as macroeconomic factors, competition, or intra market mechanics. During a strong bear market or if there is ever an economic crash, then this might be the perfect time to go long on volatility and short on the market."
