July P/L Review Did Well in Tech Stocks related to AI Will buy at dip prudently

Which stock perform the best in your account? What factors contribute to its success?
Due to privacy reason, I don't revealed my individual stock P/L. I did well in Tech stocks which is related to artificial intelligence. I also made some profit in ETF stock like S&P 500.

Do you have any unexpected lossess? Do you believe that it's due to emotional trading?
I buy value stocks at dip and my loss is due to volatility. As I took long position, such loss is on book value. I'm not worried because the company's fundamental remains good. I am also earning passive income from the dividend and return from cash plus fund like $Fullerton SGD Cash Fund(SG9999005961.MF)$ and $CSOP USD Money Market Fund(SGXZ96797238.MF)$ .

What steps did you take to mitigate risk this month?
For this month, I'll continue to buy value stocks at dip but prudently. I'm also buying options and use technical analysis to help me to forecast price trend. I don't short sell a stock or buy leverage stocks as they are too risky for me. Will take extra measures to avoid emotional trading like FOMO and panic selling.

  • ZnWCOP 珊珊小强哥: Hello friend

  • 102258185 : Hi

  • MooMamaLlama : undefinedundefinedundefined very well set up, and it's clearly paying off .
Have you always been such a calm investor?
Sticking to long plays with nice returns and a little passive income on top...-as opposed to short term/swing trades you need to closely monitor....- you've set up a very nice strategy to not only get returns, but to sleep well at night. Bravo! 👏

  • ZnWCOP MooMamaLlama: Have not been hearing from you, my friend. Thanks for your encouragement. Try to avoid greed FOMO buy.

  • Pika Xin : wow how much have u invested for each of the funds?

  • ZnWCOP Pika Xin: Not much but I've invested for a few years and subscribe more one I earn profit in my trade.

  • Pika Xin ZnWCOP: can suggest which types of funds to look at? currently i have only started fullerton and allianz income

  • ZnWCOP Pika Xin: Whatever I have suggested are written in the post.

  • MooMamaLlama ZnWCOP: my apologies undefined I've been quieter just out of circumstance... Kids have been home sick for weeks with a yuck strain of influenza then school holidays, unfortunately.. but kids are better, just gone back to school, should get back to normal this week!!! it's been a brutal 6 weeks!

That why I comment you are so calm! I think I'm growing as an investor, thanks to some great advice you gave me about a year ago- Doing nothing is sometimes the best thing to do. If nothing is there, there is always tomorrow. So I've calmed down on 'I HAVE to find today's pick' cos sometimes there isn't one!! But I still let outside circumstance affect my trading. I've been a bit time poor and emotional for weeks and it shows. I opened a swing trade in U.S market. Usually fine, I can get by on 4-5hrs sleep a night, so time difference to Oz is manageable. I have kids, I'm used to getting no sleep. but not 4 nights in a row and sick... I literally slept through entire U.S intraday. Spike fell before close. I barely got closed on even. So it wasn't a technical 'loss' but I DID lose what could have been my best trade in months.
So I'm taking the lesson. If I can foresee I'm not able to be watching the market closely, no more short term trades with high volatility. Sometimes losing a potential gain hurts more... weirdly I can admit when I'm wrong, but find it hard to accept when I was right and just simply didn't follow through!
I still make mistakes but make a lot less thanks to the advice you gave me. I treasure that now, thank you my friend.undefined
