The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ fell 0.2 per cent on Tuesday for their second straight day of losses, as gains for the banks failed to offset selling among the miners and real estate stocks.
The worst performer was rubber gloves giant $Ansell Ltd(ANN.AU$, which dropped 14 per cent after warning rising costs in financial 2024 will impact its profits.
Elsewhere, graphite miner $Syrah Resources Ltd(SYR.AU$ plunged 16 per cent after its trading and production update disappointed the market.
Broker Morgan Stanley has stuck to an overweight rating on coal miner $Whitehaven Coal Ltd(WHC.AU$, with a $7.95 per share price target.
It said the miner's June quarter production was 6 per cent ahead of the broker's estimates with operating costs 2 per cent lower than estimates.
