Share traders shrugged off a day punctuated by hot jobs data and news that New Zealand had entered a recession as the $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ ended up 0.2 per cent.
$Insurance Australia Group Ltd(IAG.AU)$ added 4.6 per cent and coal miner $New Hope Corp Ltd(NHC.AU)$ 4.3 per cent.
In the small-cap space, $Green Technology Metals Ltd(GT1.AU)$ more than tripled to 33¢ after announcing positive drilling results at a lithium project in Western Australia.
