AU Evening Wrap: ASX Falls 0.3%, Weighed Down by Tech, Real Estate

The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ fell 0.3 per cent, or 18.3 points to 7099.7 at market close, dragged lower by losses in technology and real estate stocks.

The technology sector was the worst performing, down 3.8 per cent following a sell-off overnight on the technology-heavy Nasdaq. $Xero Ltd(XRO.AU)$ tumbled 5.3 per cent, $WiseTech Global Ltd(WTC.AU)$ fell 3.4 per cent, and $Altium Ltd(ALU.AU)$ lost 4.9 per cent.

The real estate sector also fell in the red, down 2.5 per cent. $Goodman Group(GMG.AU)$ shares dropped 2.4 per cent. $Scentre Group(SCG.AU)$ shed 3.3 per cent. $Stockland Corp Ltd(SGP.AU)$ lost 3.7 per cent. $Mirvac Group(MGR.AU)$ fell 3.4 per cent. $Centuria Capital Group(CNI.AU)$ tumbled 6.3 per cent.

Consumer discretionary stocks dived 1.4 per cent. $Wesfarmers Ltd(WES.AU)$ lost 1.1 per cent. $Corporate Travel Management Ltd(CTD.AU)$ shares were down 4.8 per cent. $Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd(DMP.AU)$ shed 3.4 per cent. Lovisa dropped 5.2 per cent.

Energy stocks rallied. $Woodside Energy Group Ltd(WDS.AU)$ shares rose 1.1 per cent. $Whitehaven Coal Ltd(WHC.AU)$ surged 5.5 per cent. $Yancoal Australia Ltd(YAL.AU)$ added 4.4 per cent.

Miners fell in the green. $BHP Group Ltd(BHP.AU)$ shares rallied 1.2 per cent. $Fortescue Ltd(FMG.AU)$ rose 1.7 per cent. $Rio Tinto Ltd(RIO.AU)$ increased 2.2 per cent.

$Enero Group Ltd(EGG.AU)$ tumbled 9.5 per cent after it provided a trading update for FY23 earnings.
