$Tesla(TSLA.US)$ CEO Elon Musk visited Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory in the early hours  today (June 1). Musk arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday afternoon (May 30) via a private business jet, marking his 10th trip to China.
According to people familiar with the matter, Musk's visit to Shanghai will unveil the new Model 3, Tesla's first mass-produced vehicle for the mass market, which was launched seven years ago. Many analysts believe that the Model 3 is gradually losing its competitiveness in the highly competitive electric vehicle market. Therefore, Musk hopes to improve and upgrade the Model 3 to compete more effectively with Chinese competitors.
How important is it for Tesla to make progress in the Chinese market? What upgrades are you hoping to see in the new Model 3?  Will upgrading the Model 3 have a significant impact on Tesla's stock price?

  • No_Horse_Run_4896 : China is definitely a place for Tesla to grow its roots. There are a lot of room for China and Tesla to both benefit, let's rock and roll 😎

  • ZnWC : Based on Tesla's practice, the new model will likely offer very similar specs and range to the model currently available. The likely upgrade just to name a few:
Between 272 miles and 358 miles of EV range, Rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive 0–60 mph in as little as 3.1 seconds, Panoramic glass roof, Heated front and rear seats, Max Supercharging of 170 kW etc

Most importantly is Tesla is able to make the upgrade with no additional production cost using economy of scale and it's state of art production line. Tesla will then be able to roll out new Model 3 with the lower price and same profit margin per vehicle.

The aim is to compete with the China-brand EVs and increase sales without price cut. If this is possible, we'll see revenue and gross margin up in Q4 and share price to soar by year end.

  • EYSY : China is definitely a huge market for any company with its 1.4 billion population. If Tesla can capture the market, it'll definitely boost its sales.

Upgrades that I'd like to see in Model 3: self-driving ability. Hope Tesla can truly self-drive one day. If it can do that, it will be a significant boost to its stock price!
