AU Morning Wrap: ASX Slips; Wesfarmers to Not Match Bid for Silk Laser
AU Market Watch
The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ fell 0.1 per cent, or 6.4 points to 7211 at market open, weighed down the technology and real estate sectors.
Real stocks were in the red, dragged lowed by losses in the sector's large cap companies. $Goodman Group(GMG.AU)$ shares shed 0.7 per cent. $Scentre Group(SCG.AU)$ lost 0.7 per cent. $Charter Hall Group(CHC.AU)$ dropped 1.3 per cent.
Gold miners were among the best performing stocks at the ring of the bell. $Silver Lake Resources Ltd(SLR.AU)$ shares rose 2.4 per cent. $Regis Resources Ltd(RRL.AU)$ added 1.5 per cent. $Gold Road Resources Ltd(GOR.AU)$ increased 1.4 per cent. $Bellevue Gold Ltd(BGL.AU)$ rose 1.2 per cent.
Retail giant $Wesfarmers Ltd(WES.AU)$ shares edged up 0.5 per cent following chief executive's Rob Scott address at the company's strategy day when he reassured investors that the group was well positioned in the tougher consumer environment.
Stocks to Watch
$Pure Foods Tasmania Ltd(PFT.AU)$: Pure Foods Tasmania says its revenue is forecast to grow 50 per cent in FY24 compared to the previous financial year.
The company says the introduction of six new products has been estimated to increase its revenue by $5 million.
$SILK Laser Australia Ltd(SLA.AU)$: Silk Laser has announced that Wesfarmers will not match Hong Kong minnow EC Healthcare's bid to acquire the company.
It comes as the chain laser and injectables clinic received a proposal from EC Healthcare last Tuesday for the acquisition of 100 per cent of its shares at a price of $3.35 a share.
$Sayona Mining Ltd(SYA.AU)$: Lithium producer Sayona Mining says it has completed a book build for a $200 million underwritten placement at 18¢ a share.
The miner said the placement would be used to expedite the development of the company's lithium projects in northern Québec in Canada. Additional funding will also be allocated to its gold and lithium projects in Western Australia.
