Is earnings season a triumph or trial for you?
Views 50K Contents 52

Volatility is good, volatility is your friend.

Volatility is good for traders.
Don’t follow the earnings and think that a good earnings report means that the price will fly to the moon.
Watch what the traders are doing and where is the price is going on the day and decide the direction of trade.
With the same ticker, you can go long one day and short the other.
Case in point, if you went long the day $Palantir(PLTR.US)$ released the report and short the next few days, and then long again yesterday, you would have made a killing with the volatility.
Volatility is your friend.

  • WinWe : You are talking on hindsight

  • Kiel890 WinWe: US stocks still mainly focus on going long, choosing the right price to buy long-term holdings, and hedge risks within the appropriate operator

  • ofcandlesandsticksOP Kiel890: In this current time, I feel that going long is more dangerous. Investor sentiments get rocked easily with debt-ceiling talks, bank runs, interest rate hikes.

  • Kiel890 ofcandlesandsticksOP: Yes, the current market conditions are not suitable for long-term maintenance. When the pullback comes back, how have you been operating recently?

  • ofcandlesandsticksOP Kiel890: Now is a good time for long term investment. If you are an investor going for dollar cost averaging or buying when prices are low. Bear market is great. If you are a trader selling short it’s also great.

I’m not long or short biased. I go in based on daily movements. Had inconsistent results recently. But hey, if I can get it right all the time, I’d be a full time trader. I’m still learning.

  • Kiel890 ofcandlesandsticksOP: Prices are high now, so why is it a good time for a long time

  • ofcandlesandsticksOP Kiel890: Prices are high for some and low for others. It depends on what you are investing in.

  • Kiel890 ofcandlesandsticksOP: yes,but l do not revommend going after the high, everyobe's trading pattern is different, what suits you is the best, and technical indicators need to be updated
