$Ford Motor(F.US$ is a company with more than 120 years of history ever since its founding in 1901 by Henry Ford.
As one of the largest car makers in the world, here are some facts to know before investing in the company.
1. 2nd largest car maker in the US, 4th in the world
Ford is the 2nd largest car maker in the US. And it is the 4th largest in the world. It's Ford brand is the US top selling brand as of 2022.
2. It has investments in Rivian and Argo AI
Ford surprisingly used to have a 12% stake in $Rivian Automotive(RIVN.US$. But they sold off 90% of that stake by end of 2022.
Both companies were supposed to co-develop an electric pickup but the plans did not materialized.
Ford also bought over Argo AI, an autonomous driving technology company, but the company has disbanded in October 2022. Argo’s technology will be salvaged and further developed in-house by Ford and $VOLKSWAGEN AG NON VTG PRF NPV(VLKPF.US$, the previous 2 co-backers.
3. Q4'22 and overall FY'22 results are good
Q4'22 topline was Ford's highest in FY 22. Wholesale was up 4%, due to improvements in supply chain constraints and EV scaling.
Revenue was up 17%, driven by increased volume and higher net pricing, offset partially by weaker currencies.
