727727727OP iamiam: fair point if it were random, but investing is (arguably) skill based, so starting from any zero point, there is no 50% up and 50% down. In fact, I'd guess it's closer to 80% up and in the long term (assuming buy and hold) closer to 95% up.
sTone83 : In the stock market, you can make money or make excuses, but you can't have both.
ZnWC : Stock market is not about beating who or I earn/lose more than you. Investment is not a zero sum game depending on your mindset.
One thing for sure is if don't invest, we will lose to inflation. Having a positive mindset, investment is about beating your yesterday self - making more profit . Depend on your goal, a profit of USD 100 versus USD 1 million is still a win in investment. Just remember don't lose money.
Taking one step further, if we can help each other to achieve sustainable profit that is win-win.

12moon : As ZnWC said investment is not a zero sim game, majority of people have to lose to create minority gainers. I somehow agreed with 727727727 that not investing may beat half of the people who did. Losers are always many.
