Options Market Statistics: Intel Options Pop Following Investor Presentation

U.S. stock indexes rose across the board Wednesday, aided by easing global banking concerns. $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US$ added 56.54 points, or 1.4%, to 4027.81. $Dow Jones Industrial Average(.DJI.US$ gained 323.35 points, or 1%, to 32717.60. $Nasdaq Composite Index(.IXIC.US$ rose 210.16 points, or 1.8%, to 11926.24. $Intel(INTC.US$ shares climbed 7.61%, with option volume of 0.75 million, quadrupling its 30-day average volume. Calls are outnumbering puts at a 2:1 ratio.
Intel Corp. shares were heading toward their best day of the year following an investor presentation that provided more detail about the company's plans to reverse a slide in manufacturing and market share of data-center chips.
$Micron Technology(MU.US$ shares up 7.19%, with option volume of 0.38 million, five times its 30-day average volume.
Micron Technology reported a fiscal Q2 non-GAAP loss late Tuesday of $1.91 per diluted share, compared with earnings of $2.14 a year earlier. Micron Technology earnings are "challenging" as gross margins extend declines and are expected to continue this way until the August quarter though volumes are picking up, Morgan Stanley analysts said in a note to clients Wednesday.
JP Morgan has decided to maintain its Overweight rating of Micron Technology and raise its price target from $65.00 to $75.00 on Wednesday.
