On this very Special International Women'sย Day, I celebrate my ability for financial independence with a narration of my investment journey. I set my first investment goal at the tender and naive age of 17, when I aimed to marry a rich guy and to live happily ever after. Unsurprisingly, my Cinderella's dream was short lived.
Next was my nightmarish encounter with the Lehman Brothers stocks. With its collapse I faced the Biggest Challenge of my life with a sizable loss. That crisis has changed me into a grouchy and mean person. I had bad relationships with my beloved family and my colleagues. It had almost cost me my family's love as well as the loss of my dream job. The final straw was that my fiancee left me because of the lost funds from our combined hard earned savings planned for our future home. I have learnt a painful lesson of never to place all my eggs in one basket. Those days were bleak. ![]()

My saving Grace was that I did not quit. I always believe that my experience with adversity does not stop me from striving to achieve better financial goals in the investment world. It is about turning negativity into a positive drive. ![]()
