TeslaSmurf :
It would be FOOLISH as it would cost about 20 billions (let’s say just 12 for a good control stake). With 12 billions Tesla covers almost 2 years of operating expenses. They may need less than 2 billion to design and put in production a big sedan if they wanted to. With the S base, 4 motors instead of 3 and more room it would be easy and way cheaper to produce than the Lucid Air. So, they won’t do it. What makes much more sense, instead, is a merger (whitout need to pay money and big savings in components and general expenses) between Rivian and Lucid. That will be good. Tesla may buy a luxury/sport brand with an history like Aston Martin or some other. And they may also buy (or establish from scratch) a sub-brand to squeeze more juice from elder production lines, tools and technology, maybe to be built in Brazil and China + Thailand or Indonesia. Those would be cars at the so-called competition level, to be sold at a lower price in those countries and surroundings (not to be shipped to the other side of the ocean).
S Punt : Why?
72772006 : Good idea!
SweetRideOP : both have a Tesla connection
b34r : Tesla has enough money but i dont see how Elon is going to convince Saudi PIF to let go of their 60% of Lucid. Not really about the money here.
Tesla-55 : Why would they want to
