NVDA.US partners with Fujitsu to provide AI-on-5G solutions for telecom companies

NVDA.US is developing a new AI-on-5G solution that combines 5G vRAN, edge AI and digital twin workloads on an all-in-one, hyper-converting and GPU-accelerated system to meet the needs of telecom companies seeking industry-standard solutions that can run 5G, AI applications and immersive graphical workloads on the same server, including computer vision and metaverse. This includes computer vision and metaverse.

The lower cost of ownership associated with such systems will help telecom companies drive revenue growth in smart cities as well as retail, entertainment and manufacturing to support the multi-trillion dollar 5G ecosystem.

According to the presentation, the AI-on-5G system includes Fujitsu's Virtualized 5G Open RAN product suite, created through the NTT DOCOMO-led 5G Open RAN Ecosystem Experience (OREX) project. It also includes Fujitsu's Virtualized Central Unit (vCU) and Distributed Unit (vDU), as well as other virtualization software features for Fujitsu vRAN; NVIDIA Aerial Software Development Kit for 5G vRAN; NVIDIA Omniverse for building and operating custom 3D pipelines and large-scale simulations; NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstation (Hardware includes the NVIDIA A100X and L40 converged gas pedals.

Fujitsu will deliver fully virtualized 5G vRAN on the same high-performance, energy-efficient, versatile and scalable computing infrastructure, as well as multi-access edge computing," said Masaki Taniguchi, senior vice president and head of mobile systems at Fujitsu. This combination, driven by AI and XR applications, enables carriers to deliver ultra-low latency services, highly optimized TCO and energy-efficient performance."

Telecom companies and their customers are exploring new ways to increase productivity, efficiency and creativity by delivering immersive experiences over 5G networks," said Ronnie Vasishta, senior vice president of telecommunications at NVIDIA. At Mobile World Congress, we are bringing these visions to life by demonstrating how a GPU-enabled server can support workloads such as NVIDIA Aero for 5G, CloudXR for streaming virtual reality, and Omniverse for digital twins."

The AI-on-5G system is part of NVIDIA's growing portfolio of 5G solutions that are driving the transformation of the telecommunications industry. Based on the NVIDIA Aero SDK and A100X converged gas pedal, combined with BlueField DPU and a suite of AI frameworks, NVIDIA delivers high-performance, software-defined, cloud-native, AI-enabled 5G for local and carrier RANs.

Telecom companies partnering with NVIDIA can access thousands of software vendors and applications in the ecosystem, which helps address enterprise needs in smart cities, retail, manufacturing, industrial and mining. $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$ $Qualcomm(QCOM.US)$ $Foxconn Concept(BK1179.HK)$
