Google VS Microsoft’s Bing
There’s no doubt that Google $Alphabet-A(GOOGL.US$ is dominating the search engine market share. According to StatCounter, Google has a market share of approximately 93%, while Bing only has a market share of around 3%.
However, this landslide victory may start to shift with the rise of the AI chatbot ChatGPT. Since the debut of ChatGPT in November of last year, the chatbot has gained huge popularity due to its informative, conversational, and even witty responses powered by AI technology.
In its most recent AI event, Microsoft $Microsoft(MSFT.US$ says it’s using conversational AI to create a new way to browse the web. Users will be able to chat to Bing like ChatGPT, asking questions and receiving answers in natural language. If Microsofts manages to implement this effectively, it can potentially give Bing a huge boost in attracting users and advertisers.
That being said, Google’s strong moat is not something that can be easily penetrable.
