Australia's $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ closed 0.8% lower at 7433.7, snapping a run of five consecutive weekly gains with its largest one-week fall since September. The benchmark index traded in the red throughout Friday's session following a weak lead from the U.S., where traders continued to assess the uncertain outlook for interest rates.
Ten of the ASX 200's 11 sectors lost ground on Friday, with only consumer staples gaining. Shares of iron-ore, gold and lithium miners all lost ground as the materials sector gave up 1.1%.
Tech losses were led by $Block Inc(SQ2.AU$'s local securities, which tumbled 6.2%. The ASX 200 lost 1.65% for the week.
