$Ford Motor(F.US)$ There is some false information below in this thread. Just so everyone knows: One does not need to own a stock past the ex dividend date in order to get the dividend. As a matter of fact, you can sell your stock ON ex dividend day, and as long as you owned the stock at the market close the day before the ex dividend date, you will get the dividend. So, you can buy Ford on February 9th, sell it on February 10th, AND STILL GET THE DIVIDEND. February 13th/14th has nothing to do with it. The date of record for Ford is merely the day they go back to see who owned the stock on the 9th, because those are the people that will collect the dividend.
