AlphaWolf01 : Here is basic market knowledge. They have a legal consequence to face if they say there is ILLEGAL shorting and naked shorting in general. This "manager" you spoke to if you really did, may not even hold a high enough position to answer you. The financial market is too complicated to grasp but your assumptions on a fundamental basis is hugely mistake and I am correcting you. AMC as a whole be it fundamentals or financials are improving vastly and showing the short thesis that the industry is still alive and it is a big cost for them to go short and be greedy
