Options Market Statistics (1/10): Short Squeeze In Progress
U.S. stock futures retreated Tuesday, as investors parsed remarks from Federal Reserve officials indicating a higher-for-longer outlook for interest rates and awaited comments from Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.
Futures for the S&P 500 fell 0.5% while contracts tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average weakened 0.4%. Futures for the technology-heavy Nasdaq-100 fell 0.6%.

$Bed Bath & Beyond Inc(BBBY.US$ surged more than 23%, with option volume of 420,000, and call options accounted for nearly 54.7% of the volume. The January 13th $2 call was leading the way.
Short squeeze dynamics at play in $Marathon Digital(MARA.US$. Shares up $1.17, or 28%, yesterday near $5.26 with call volume 5x normal at 185K contracts, vs 51k puts. January 13th 5 strike calls lead the flow with 19k contracts trading from 8c to 53c in relatively small lots. June 15th calls also active with nearly 19k contracts, including a market-maker buyer paying 27c for 2200 in a sweep as shares traded $5.05 Marathon shares are very hard to borrow as of now with an implied rate near 31%.
$Alibaba(BABA.US$ jumped more than 3% with option volume of 440,000. Calls are outnumbering puts at 2:1, with the January 13th 125.00 call trading with the highest volume of 6,813.
ARK sold 111,173 shares of $XPeng(XPEV.US$ on Monday at an estimated valuation of over $1 million. The March 17th 22.5 put on Xpeng was heavily traded, with volume to open interest of nearly 175.
