just an informative update on today's action you didn't know about

today's action was end of year book closing. all big brokers had to close out positions to avoid capital gains taxes and took the losses intentionally today so that their positions could settle before Friday. the losses they took today intentionally give them a tax advantage against the capital gains tax. it's spend a little to save alot. and is a very common strategy used by big business. with that being said, and looking at the charts, tomorrow should bring us a good day with a step up in volatility. if you look at the patterns on all the charts. and the excessive out flow you'll see big banks and brokers were selling off the most. of course they had to buy today as well in order to keep the market from crashing, but I see it as a controlled sell off which means they needed to keep stock prices in check to start with gains again tomorrow.
