The Value Investor : In all fairness, he’s talking about me. I’m unapologetically rude when it comes to Tesla’s over evaluation. I was insulting PLTR hype dorks when it was 12+. But I will say, now that it’s down like 60-70% it is looking slightly attractive. But it’s not quite there yet. I’ll take a closer look later.
The difference between me and the hype dorks and fan boys is that I’ll buy a stock if its at the right price, but they will always think the stock is the right price, regardless of how high (or sometimes low) it is. Rid yourself of the emotional attachment and understand that you’re buying a piece of a business, a piece of cash flow. If you buy a company worth 1T and it doesn’t even make 10% or anywhere near 10% of that in profit, how do you generate a 10% return over long periods of time (there are ways of doing this, but I won’t get too much into this). You need good fundamentals in order to achieve sustained long term returns. At least Tesla has a good business model, the mentally retarded children buying APE and AMC are buying an unprofitable company with massive debt and that is diluting them.
Am I rude for saying this? Maybe, but its true. It’s literally just math. You can’t make 1+1=3, when you find a way to break the universe’s laws tell me. My views reflect the fundamentals (revenue, margins, earning, free cash flow, etc relative to valuation) If fundamentals change, my opinion on the company change. My views do not reflect traders, only investors. Investing is different than trading. I’ve made 200% on Tesla on the way up, but that’s trading, not investing. Swing, day, momentum trading, etc. My time horizons are 5+ years.
