MooHumor: Quid pro quo

MooHumor: Quid pro quo
Quid pro quo is a Latin phrase used in English to mean an exchange of goods or services.
It's the rule that all alchemists lived by. And it could also be the law for life, you have to give something to get something in return.
Everything come with a price.
One must take risks in the hope of gain. Inflations won't go low without taking any measures.
After all, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

  • Syuee : Time is the first biggest sacrifice to become the investor, I currently am.

Ego is another sacrifice because I have to accurately understand my own strengths and weaknesses, so that I can continuously explore and adopt different and newer investing / trading strategies with an open mind.

And, a successful investor is never done learning yet, there is always something more we could benefit from knowing.

Next sacrifice is Dedication. I have to continue moving forward, through mistakes on the way to success.

Just remember that as an investor, we can choose what to give up and when to give it up.

However, we may not be able to control the finances, but we can definitely control our time.

Don’t forget, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

If we treat it like a sprint, we may get good early progress, but if we don’t get to a profitable point quick enough, we are likely to burn out.

The life of an investor/trader is no piece of cake. Enjoy the wild ride ! undefined

    Sacrifices are like investments.
Give up the short-term comfort for the long-term win. Be patient and stay focused.

Read the above from somewhere. Look like your cats are very patient and focused 😹

  • doctorpot1 : I had sacrificed enjoyment, pleasure, luxury and even a part of my youth, so that I could have a chance to secure all of that after 40. A huge price to pay to achieve Financial Independence, Retired Early (FIRE).

I am a FIRE practitioner and I do want to reach FIRE before 40. I was born into a low income household and do not have parents who can guide me on how to manage finances well, or how to build a good life. Life starts off in hard mode, and I had to work many time harder and smarter just to have a chance to achieve FIRE.

I had been working multiple jobs, saving and investing close to 75% of my incomes, and always looking for ways to get the best deal for my money (such as leveraging on membership to get 50% off meals in restaurants, or playing games to get vouchers).

When all my friends are traveling around the world, I'm traveling to meet clients to trying to clinch a freelancing job. When all my friends are catching up on the latest drama and shows, I'm catching up on my ecommerce order to pack and ship. When all my friends are swiping right to date as many person as possible, I'm swiping my mouse trying to find as many government grants to leverage on as possible. When all my friends are researching and buying up cars and expensive houses, I'm researching and buying up shares of companies.

Hopefully my sacrifices will be worth it because I believe life truly begins at FIRE. That is when you can have REAL freedom of choice. We do not have to suck it up just because there are bills to pay. We can truly work on what we want to do, and not work on what pays well. Hope that 7 years later, I can finally make a post to say that I have reached FIRE undefinedundefined Until then, it is just more grinding and sacrificing all for the chance to reach the ultimate goal of life, to live life.

For those who are interested in FIRE too, there is a group chat dedicated to the topic of FIRE, so do join if you are interested. undefinedundefined
