Sad fate of game streaming companies?
Game streaming companies in Us like Twitch are still doing reasonably fine but if we take a look of how Huya cuts it's investment in Nimo TV, which is its international gaming streaming platform, it makes us wondered if these gaming streaming companies are having big issues.
True enough that the guidance notes on changes on tipping and the time duration limit for youth to watch gaming streaming have impacted Huya and Douyu at least on the share price front. The full impact is likely to come this quarter in Q3 though I do expect that advertising income has gotten hit as well given the limited number of games being introduced and approved by the authorities.
Will metaverse and virtual reality game streamers help Huya to make a turnaround? These are some of the top questions to think about. Another issue pertains to the huge data stored by Huya and Douyu. We shall see if Huya can manage this risk on their side successfully.
As always, this should not be construed as any investment or trading advice.
