Tesla batteries to get major upgrade next year, some with BYD blade batteries

Tesla will upgrade the batteries in the Model 3 and Model Y next year, with some models using 4680 cells and some using blade batteries supplied by BYD. Tesla plans to add two new types of batteries to the rear-wheel drive version of the Model 3 and Model Y, namely a lithium iron phosphate blade battery made by BYD and a Model 3 Performance battery with an increased capacity of 70 kWh. for the all-wheel drive and performance versions of the Model 3 and Model Y, an upgrade to a 4680 battery is planned.
