Apple Cars More Popular Than Tesla Even Before They Exist
According to a 200,000 new-vehicle owners survey by Strategic Vision, US customers are more interested in buying a car from Apple rather than buying a new Ford or Tesla.
Although $Apple(AAPL.US$ has yet to announce plans to produce an automobile, the brand already has some of the highest future brand consideration among recent new vehicle buyers.
The result shows that if Apple builds it, customers will come. More than half of Tesla owners would consider buying an Apple car in the future.

"Apple is the 3rd highest brand consideration with 26% of customers stating they would 'Definitely Consider' an Apple branded vehicle in the future; just behind $Toyota Motor(TM.US$ (38%) and $Honda Motor(HMC.US$(32%), followed by $Forward Industries(FORD.US$(21%) and $Tesla(TSLA.US$(20%). However, Apple's strength doesn't end here," said Strategic Vision President Alexander Edwards.
"What should be concerning to others is that Apple generates a greater amount of Love than any other automotive company, double that of strong brands like Honda, Toyota, and Tesla. For example, over 50% of Tesla owners would 'Definitely Consider' a future Apple vehicle."
Apple hasn't made any announcement about producing a car, but CEO Tim Cook has long hinted about building one under the codename "Project Titan".
Apple is said to be weighing a number of different options for Project Titan, but its ambitious goal is to ship a self-driving EV without a steering wheel by 2025.

There is no Apple car.
MAYBE they will decide to build a factory in 3-5 years, MAYBE they will be so good to ramp production in half the time it took Tesla, MAYBE they will be so good to have no problem with the supply chain and MAYBE they can build a good supercharging network in another 5 years. So, around 2030 they may be building their first 100.000 cars…
Tesla by 2030 will be making 200 times that. BUT, if Tesla decides to produce a phone to be connected with the Starlink system, they may have it in the market in two years from scratch, produced in the millions in Taiwan, China or Korea.
Much more easy for Tesla to eat Apple’s lunch than for Apple to compete in the EVs. There is a HUGE space in the EV market, though, as the competition is not between EV brands but between EVs and fossil fuel burning cars. The smartphone market is much more mature and Tesla entering there would certainly cut sales from Apple and Samsung. I think Apple may have a car built by others (as their phones), but they will need a car maker already mass producing EVs in the millions and with even bigger production capacity: that won’t happen before YEARS. Pure FANTASY at the moment.
