@CowTastetic:
Perhaps a way of utilising the OBV (of good stocks) may be to observe the gradients of it in the long term and attempt to make a deduction. If it has a small gradient going downwards, it indicates stock prices dropping rapidly, while if the gradient is going upwards, it may indicate rapid growth.

Mooer comment
@Piggy Bank Trader:
$Magic Empire Global(MEGL.US)$I made some good money on this today but got out too early. I wasn't going to be watching it and don't trust the stock long-term. I DO NOT want to be a bag holder here.

When APPL first breaks and closed above MA30 on 05Jul2022, OBV also showed a positive upward trend. Then, the stock moves up along with the increase of OBV. Both stock price and OBV are showing higher highs and lower lows.

@SpyderCall:
The S&P 500 has rallied roughly about 16% from its 52 week bottom. Will the rally continue? Or will the S&P 500 continue downward in its 52-week bear market downtrend that it has been in since last November?

Mooer comment
@Sam The Greater:
What's to say he now doesn't completely screw over GME as well. Billionaire's don't become billionaires by being nice and helping people. They have all stepped on somebody to get to where they are. Do you still trust Cohen with your money?

Mooer comment
@JustSurface:
Bitcoin and Eth pump. then when they start to fall, all the altcoins will run, until all dump for a bit and then repeat. Markets ran hot, cooling off now, so everyone's jumping on the alts (low float, penny stocks, meme plays). Then everything will come down for a bit.

  • Popular on moomooOP : Time to be rewarded for your great insights and knowledge!undefinedundefined
    This week, we'd like to invite you to comment below and share your idea on:
    What are the general problems faced by mooers who are new to the stock market trading?

  • Milk The Cow :

  • HopeAlways : Those who are new to stock market trading might not have a clear understanding of what they are investing in. This can happen when they read a short piece about a company that is very bullish on it and then buy some shares. It is important to understand the strengths and risks of of any company they are considering investing in and have a good grasp of its competitive advantages too. It is also imporant to understand a company's business model which is exactly how it makes money. They need to be sure thay they understand what they are investing in. Next up will be valuation. If they are buying overvalued  stocks even for good companies, they may find the shares fall closer to their intrinsic value than continue rising.  Always evaluate both the quality and price of any stock or company they are considering for their portfolio. They may want to keep a list of great stocks they want to own at the right price. Always aim to buy a stock for less than what they think it is worth, ideally a lot less.

  • Syuee : Some of the general problems faced by mooers who are new to the stock market trading :

    - Besides entering and closing a trade with fruitful returns over a holding period, the foremost thing is mind control over one’s GREED, FEAR, EMOTIONS and SENTIMENTS on the trade.

    - And after picking fundamentally strong stocks at their appropriate price and time, it is needed to wait patiently~ till the stock gives out its best returns over the holding period.

    - So, PATIENCE is the next biggest challenge for new traders.

    - Another major problem is keeping STOP LOSS.

    Stock market can sometimes become a casino when beginners trade, every time they sit in front of their trading set-up.

    It will not be so if one decides to take ONLY those trades where the rewards far outweigh the risks.

    The secret of success in trading lies in knowing when NOT to trade. undefined

    The lesser one trades, the better are the trades, one selects.

    Having said all the above, I must confess that I am still learning how to be a better trader / investor as well.  undefined

  • Milk The Cow Popular on moomooOP: For me, I'm not sure if I'm considered new to the US market now undefined, maybe old bird 🐦 liao undefined.

    When I start entered the US market, I'm so excited 😊.
    Because I'd just moved from the sgx market to the US market, many things are new to me undefined:

    1. Options
    Sgx market has no such thing

    2. Apes & MEME stock
    I did not know that there is such thing & went into the wrong den & shot my big mouth by typing some truth that is not supposed to be mentioned & get attacked by apes.

    3. FED
    The US central banking & seem to be quite a big deal to investors. Even till now, sometime forgotten know the full name of it undefined. The 1st time.i heard FED, I mistaken it as FedEx... & I wondered why a delivery company is such a big deal to investors undefined+undefined.

    4. US markert commission rate
    Are also quite different from the sgx version undefined.

    5. SEC
    Some thing like the SGX undefined & their font size is also too small that I need enlarge the page sometime... I think even Warren Buffett will has a hard time reading 📚 them...

    6. US stock dividend tax rate
    The 30% tax on Singaporean 🇸🇬 is not friendly at all undefined

  • HopeAlways Syuee: Patience is the key to success in stock investing. For best results, think of the market's great long-term performers like $Apple (AAPL.US)$ among many others. Never hold blindly, though. Buy with the aim to hold for many years, but keep up with your holdings' progress and news.  If their growth potential is no longer compelling at any point, consider selling.

  • Syuee HopeAlways: Finding undervalued stocks isn’t just about finding cheap stocks. The key is to look for quality stocks at prices under their fair values, rather than non-performing stocks at a very low price.

    The difference is that good quality stocks will rise in value over the long term.

    For beginners, they should always gather the right financial information about a stock.

  • doctorpot1 : I think the general problems faced by mooers who are new to the stock market trading, is that they assume that there are 100% risk free money in the stock market. If there are such thing, the bots and HF would have snatch it before we can even say "eureka!".

    Some common misconceptions I saw happening frequently is that:
    1. Buying stock of company that announced dividend, and think thay they can sell it after ex div date for the same price. (sadly the share price will drop by the dividend amount on ex div date, so no free money)

    2. Buying deep in the money CALL option thinking it is an infinite money glitch. I.e. if share price of company X is $10, buy a CALL option with strike of $1, exercise it and earn $9 free. (sadly the premium of the option will always be greater than $9 in this case)

    3. Buying PUT option on stock that is announcing stock split, to generate free money. I.e. if company X at a price of $20 is doing a 20:1 split, buy a PUT option of $20 and after ex div date, the share price of company X will become $1, thus earning $19 for free. (sadly, the option contract will adjust for the split too, so no free money there too)

    But because moo moo have alot of helpful kind souls around, they are always helping new mooers out to remove all these misconceptions, if they ask undefinedundefined

  • ZnWC : The strength of moomoo is it provide resources for new investors to learn about investment strategy. While investing to earning profit, do be mindful about your risk tolerance. As a new investor myself, paper trading allows me to practice new investment skills and build confidence along the way. "Do your own due diligence" or dyodd is the advice I heard frequently in investment. I think "dollar cost averaging" or dca is a good strategy to start with to avoid emotional trading 😎

  • Ferdinandy : back to 950 very soon
