  • Milk The Cow :

  • steady Pom pipi : How much does it cost to be considered economically comfortable in your city?
undefinedOf course, the more, the better. money is not everything, but without money, you can't.undefinedundefinedundefined
This society is very realistic, although we often talk about contentment, it is very difficult for us to do all the things around us, and our desires can never be satisfied.undefinedundefinedundefined

  • Milk The Cow : Financially comfortable in my city?undefined

I'm not sure, but I think maybe at least 1mili SGD?
Consider GST is usually an increasing trend & u need certain amount in SG compulsory CPF for citizen, in fact 1mili SGD may not even be enough for a spendthrift person...undefined

  • HopeAlways : Singapore's cost of living is increasing over time due to inflation.  To be financially comfortable living here depends a lot on one's age, lifestyle and the kind of housing one lives in.

  • areecep : Thank you for recommending my post on OXYundefined

  • Revelation 6 : Ok, I guess it depends on your definition of comfortable, but my wife and I managed to pay the bills, put some money into retirement, save some money, drive fairly new cars, own a home and go out to eat once a week on roughly  $90,000 a year. We didn't live in the lap of luxury and our home wasn't shown on “Cribs”. We didn't have iPhones or drink $6.00 coffees from Starbucks. We didn't drive around and I did all of our needed maintenance and automotive repairs. We took our lunch to work with us. On the other hand, we did not live in poverty. If something broke, we had money to fix it. We went on vacations. We never had arguments about money. We always seem to have just enough, but our budget was designed that way. I live in the Northern Suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  • Syuee : Financial comfort comes from spending less than we earn, while saving and investing the difference.

Financial discomfort comes from spending more than we earn.

When we can live within / below our means. One can be comfortable financially if we are content with what we have, and is happy.

One may make much more~ money per year and never be happy - because he is never content with what he has, always wants more and better.

Being "Financially Comfortable" isn't a matter of "How much money a person has", and it never was.

"Financially Comfortable" is a feeling inside of you.

A feeling of : contentment, satisfaction, and appreciation.

To answer your question being financially comfortable is a relative term that means different things to different folks.

Many people who scrimp and save for the future do not recognize when the future has arrived and have a hard time transitioning from saving to spending.
Some will get to retirement age and blow through their nest egg in a couple years.

So it is not a good idea to ever feel completely comfortable but it doesn't make sense to obsess over money when we don't need to.

For me personally, I have never felt financially comfortable even though I probably am …

Everyone will have a different number.

The amount of money needed to be comfortable is dependent on one’s lifestyle, demographics, etc.

We do not really have a target dollar amount in mind to reach financial independence.

But there is always a solution. We can create a wealth ( any passive income ) which gives us the needed money plus some more money for ups and downs.

Meaning to say, every month we shall get our money plus some more extra money passively.

And we save that extra money in our basically invested money so it will increase as time passes.

So, by this method we will survive more years as an independent man / woman.

undefined Cheers for financial independence ! undefined

  • Syuee HopeAlways: It is clear that the realities many face are vastly different from some of the economic indicators on paper.

The burden of record-high inflation has continued to push the limits for people across the world with many grappling with a higher cost of living.

  • Revelation 6 Syuee: You put it much better than I did. Making more than you spend and realizing that you have it good should make you feel comfortable about your finances. Being happy in the present.
