According to the US copyright law, Mickey Mouse's copyright protection period is 95 years, which means that from 2024 onwards, Mickey Mouse's image will automatically enter the public domain. ![]()

doctorpot1 : I do hope the copyright will expire but looking back at history, Disney will be pumping billions again to lobby for a 3rd copyright extension.
Before 1970s, copyright lasted 56 years only and Disney manage to lobby Congress to extend it, which they did extend it to 75 years in 1976. Then it was lobbied and extended to 95 years again in 1998.
