Why is the stock market green?
I'm kinda new to stocks, but I have some knowledge of what interest rates do to the general economy. I know that higher interest rates basically make money more expensive, leading to lower profits and a more negative outlook on equities because of higher costs. With the 75 basis point increase, I was expecting the stock market to go down, but why was it more green today? Is this the interest rate increase being priced in?

Pochong : Green? Where do you see market is green? SnP and Nasdaq is gapped down 2-3% at the open.

LuckyPiggie Pochong: tonight will be very red . will there be a new low this week?
TSLA M : its green yeaterday because 75 basis is a expected figure. no bad surprise
CM8668 : the fun part is you cant predict the market. can only come up with clever explanations ex post.
Mooligan : Commonly seen: Counter-trend price action the day of a Fed announcement, with return to trend thereafter. A form of "sell the news"...and in this case a bull trap.
