Emoji Talks: A Brief History of moomoo

What's up, mooers!

In present days, perhaps all of us are quite familiar with emojis. Sometimes when you couldn't find a proper way to express your feelings with words, this is exactly the moments emojis come into help. Similarly, moomoo has its own emojis as well. The moomoo emojis that we are currently using, are the latest and most comprehensive edition ever, including 141 of them.

You may wonder, how did our emojis evolve step by step to the current edition? Any highlights hidden in these cute emojis? We will share the whole story in the following.

Since the launch of moomoo, moomoo emojis have been the focus of some mooers. One day, a question popped into our minds: "Do our emojis really work for most mooers?"

To figure it out, we recruited a group of mooers to complete a test on moomoo emoji usability. That's how we did it: designated some topics, then let the participants try to find out the corresponding emojis. Finally, we could judge our emoji usability based on the accuracy and consumed time. The result turned out to be a little bit frustrating, because in terms of both accuracy and time consumption, it was even worse than expected...

Although the results were somewhat frustrating, we were still rejoiced to find out some problems about moomoo emojis. Let's take a look!

1、The difference among all emojis cannot be quickly distinguished

2、The emotions expressed are not enough to generate so-called aha-moments, and they fail to keep up with the current trendLack of moomoo style

Then, how did our design team fix them all?

Through the above summary, our goal is gradually becoming clear: to meet emotional appeals and improve the usability of emojis. To put it simply, we mainly divide it into two steps: update the patterns, and enrich the expressions.

1、Pattern Update Our design team now gives facial features a larger display area, and make the face shape more rounded. A good outline can not only ensure IP recognition, but also simplicity. In addition, there are also attempts on the style and texture. We end up using a style with strokes and no texture.

2、Expression Upgrade The emotional expression needs to be optimized as well. A little difference in emojis will greatly affect emotional expressions.
