Even if this is a joke, $Coca-Cola(KO.US$, a mainstay in Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway holding company for a long time, deserves to catch attention.
Buffett, who is the largest shareowner of the company, bought into $Coca-Cola(KO.US$ when it was worth next to nothing in the wake of the 1987 stock market crash. The purchase was considered risky, especially because it was not a typical Berkshire investment.
But he has profited handsomely over the years and has stated he will never sell a share of coke stock.
Coca-Cola's share price has been moving higher this year, it reported first quarter earnings and sales on April 25 that easily topped forecasts:
*Sales surged 16% to $10.5 billion, beating Wall Street's expectations of $9.8 billion.
*Profits of $2.8 billion, or 64 cents a share, rose 24% from a year ago — surpassing consensus estimates of 58 cents a share.
