AU Morning Wrap: KKR says Ramsay Foundation backs bid; BHP woes

Wall Street Summary
Defensive stocks outperformed as $Netflix(NFLX.US)$'s earnings cast a pall over the tech sector. The $Dow Jones Industrial Average(.DJI.US)$ climbed 250 points or 0.71 per cent.
The tech-heavy $Nasdaq Composite Index(.IXIC.US)$ slumped 167 points or 1.22 per cent. The $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ finished three points or 0.06 per cent weaker in choppy trade.

AU Market Watch
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 looks likely to extend its gains at the open, following the Dow Jones Industrial Average higher. ASX futures are up by 0.4% shortly before the open, suggesting the benchmark index could be on course for a fifth consecutive rise.

Australia shares opened higher this morning. The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ gained 0.31 per cent to 7593 as of 10:10 am.
Stocks to Watch
$Santos Ltd(STO.AU)$: Higher commodity prices and an increase in production have spurred Santos to deliver a record $US1.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in sales for the March quarter, the company said in an update on Thursday.
$Brambles Ltd(BXB.AU)$: Brambles has upgraded its FY22 sales, underlying profit and free cash flow guidance, and reiterated its dividend forecast of paying out between 40 and 60 per cent of underlying profit.
$BHP Group Ltd(BHP.AU)$: BHP expects to deliver less copper and nickel than previously anticipated, in part due to workforce issues related to COVID-19, social unrest close to its mines and workforce shortages, the company said on Thursday.
$Evolution Mining Ltd(EVN.AU)$: Evolution Mining cut its FY gold output guidance, citing wet weather and the Covid-19 pandemic.

$CSL Ltd(CSL.AU)$: CSL has announced that it has raised US$4 billion via a debt issuance, to "partially finance the proposed acquisition of Vifor Pharma announced on 14 December 2021, and for general corporate purposes".

$Ramsay Health Care Ltd(RHC.AU)$: KKR, the US private equity giant that is leading a group of investors in the proposed acquisition of Ramsay Health Care, said the target company's largest shareholder is supportive of the bid.
