Diversification
So I have always diversified quite a bit. At this time I have bought stocks I 15 companies. Some tech, oil & gas, mining, consumer goods, automotive, EV, pharma, travel, metals etc. I feel fairly diversified but in this market some go up while others go down so unrealized gains never seem to be that exciting. Yes I this unrealized so it does not really matter until sold. Do some of you minimize diversification to focus on a smaller set of core stocks? junclj1223 : You should not buy more than 4 stocks in your portfolio. Buy only the company that you know much. Too much stocks in your portfolio does not mean the best because it will makes you hard to concentrate and hardly to manage your portfolio properly. Pick only the best 4 stocks that you know much.
TeslaSmurf : HOW can you follow the economics, the charts, the buy and sell signals of 15 companies ????
You better buy Berkshire Hathaway or SPY and forget it, or do you really think you can do better than Warren Buffet ???
The ONLY alternative way is to trade 1-3 stocks knowing EVERITHING about the companies. I only hold and trade ONE. If you have many, HOW can you constantly control and average cost the price when it goes down and, eventually, buy the dips ?
d3cimal TeslaSmurf: as a newbie, i started to diversify with 6-7 stock with low capital.. this is so wrong.. cant DCA and wait out losing trade.. keep buy sell buy sell.. lost alot on processing fees.. well its a lesson bah.. 700$ training fees..
