AU Morning Wrap: US stocks closed higher on strength in the labor market; ASX opened flat

Wall Street Summary
US stocks ended a choppy session with a late up-swing as energy prices retreated and investors bet softer-than-expected employment data was still strong enough to maintain the economic recovery.
The $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ climbed 15 points or 0.34 per cent on the first session of the new quarter. The $Dow Jones Industrial Average(.DJI.US)$ swung to a gain of 140 points or 0.4 per cent after being down more than 100 points. The $Nasdaq Composite Index(.IXIC.US)$ added 41 points or 0.29 per cent.

AU Market Watch
Aussie shares were set to open higher for the first time in three sessions following a positive finish in the US as investors weighed a jobs miss and a recession indicator. Australia shares opened flat this morning. The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU)$ lost 0.08 per cent to 7494 as of 10:26 pm.
