Google acquires Raxium to develop AR, MR products
$Alphabet-C(GOOG.US$ $Alphabet-A(GOOGL.US$ has agreed to acquire Raxium, a startup developing light-emitting diodes for AR and MR devices. The acquisition could be a sign that Google wants to own more of the device components it makes.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, and a representative for Google did not respond to a request for comment.
It is reported that two of Google's biggest competitors, $Apple(AAPL.US$ and $Meta Platforms(FB.US$ , are developing their own AR headsets. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Apple is already working on its second-generation AR headset, which could be released in 2024.
