Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the project team behind pre-production of the Apple Car has been dissolved, and without rapid reworking, the car will not make its expected 2025 launch.
Despite recent reports that Apple was likely to announce a partnership to mass produce an "Apple Car" in 2025, Ming-Chi Kuo says the date is in question. According to the analyst, there is currently no project team in place at Apple.

Kuo offers no further details, so it's not known how long the team has been disbanded, nor at what stage they were. However, in December 2021, it was reported that three "Apple Car" engineers had left for other companies.

  • TeslaSmurf : Of course there is a car-dedicated research at Apple, but they won’t produce it directly and no carmaker (except Tesla) is even near to mass-produce an electric car.
    The SIMPLE REASON ?
They are the most valued company in the world and one of the most appealing brands in the world… WHY should they struggle for years in the “production hell” that ALMOST caused Tesla to go broke after 10 years trying to ramp up the model 3 in big numbers? Rivian, Lucid and many others are showing what it means and traditional automakers are planning high outputs of EVs not before 3 or 4 years (which I doubt, because NO ONE will “evade” and shorten the process of ramping up a new EV production line with high output, especially if you don’t have an Elon Musk working at the factory 16 hours a day for 7 days per week). So Apple will “comfortably” wait until some big producer is already on the right lane (probably a Korean company), then partner and bring their BRAND, style, marketing and connectivity and take satisfactory profit with little risk with ONE trendy and well built model (as the I-phone). Only when they will reach really big numbers they will consider releasing a more affordable model. Exactly as they are doing with their current products.
