TA Challenge: How do you identify trends with moving averages?
Views 199K Contents 310

Moving average!!

In my opinion, MA (Moving average) is the average cost that buyers in the market invest in buying a stock over a specified period.

The chart below shows the tool of MA in moomoo. (Used one of my favorite ETFs as a demonstration) $Tuttle Capital Short Innovation ETF(SARK.US)$
Moving average!!

For example, if today is the 16th, MA5 = (closing price of the 10th + closing price of the 11th + closing price of the 14th + closing price of the 15th + closing price of today) / 5.
Same for MA10 or 20 and so on
Moving average!!

As shown in the chart above, the two yellow arrows indicate that the share price fell below the average cost of all buyers over the past five days during these two time periods. This could be a dangerous sign, as it could prompt some investors to stop their losses. On the other hand, the price of $Tuttle Capital Short Innovation ETF(SARK.US)$ has never broken below MA10; thus,  I don't think the trend for this ETF has turned weak yet.

Since this ETF is relatively short-lived, I am using MA5 and MA10 for analysis. In addition, I will tend to use the MA50 and MA200 for analysis for some technology stocks and traditional stocks.
