[What's New]
Today is the International Women's Day, which is an international holiday celebrated on March 8 every year in honor of the women's rights movement. International Women's Day celebrates the significant contributions of women in the economic, political, and social spheres in various societies.
Most countries have achieved gender equality and women are also contributing more and more to economic development. According to Citi's report, achieving gender parity in company growth may enhance global GDP by as much as $2 trillion, or 2% to 3% of world GDP.
Although women have achieved as much as men in many industries, the capital market does not favor female entrepreneurs
Women are less likely to acquire venture capital investment, according to Citi, since lenders usually overestimate the danger of investing in female entrepreneurs.
Female-founded businesses garnered just 2.1% of venture capital dollars invested in the United States in 2021, according to PitchBook.
Even if data show that female-led businesses have a greater return on investment than male-led businesses, the fear of failure continues. According to a BCG report, women-owned firms generated 78 cents in income for every dollar invested, compared to 31 cents for male-owned businesses.
