Daily Poll: Are higher oil prices good for EV?

Daily Poll: Are higher oil prices good for EV?
With oil soaring and prices at the gas pump rising along with it. Will the latest spike help to speed the global transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources?

The question can also be: will surging oil prices make electric cars more attractive?

The truth is that except for $Tesla(TSLA.US)$ , other EV companies like $Rivian Automotive(RIVN.US)$ and l $Lucid Group(LCID.US)$ are suffering from the "growing struggles."

With the war in Ukraine upsetting supply chains and the Federal Reserve about to raise interest rates, investors are wary of risk and closely scrutinizing unprofitable companies.

Without solid production and deliveries, all of them are just "concept stocks."

The shares of rivn plunged over 30% last week.
Last week, Lucid dropped almost 22% and is now down 59% from a November high.

  • Silverbat : Inflation eats up all savings of EV; depression eats up all EVs,

  • Silverbat Jack Robinson: Will take 18 to 24 months. The worst starts after the war.

  • Investing 101 Silverbat: too optimistic. this Ukraine war is only the prelude to something bigger. it will stop soon. but this war will continue on on a larger scale come 2023.

  • ラリー チュア : Oil prices going up, I better switch to EV.

  • 103027647 : Russia running out of fuel all tank sitting ducks waiting to be bomb by TB 2 drone

  • Giovanni Ayala : 😏

  • 102824031 : battery = better ? if u drive 5 year or 10years the old battery need to dispose ? if dispose can cause pollution ? Mass disposing ? Battery life span degrade like hp ? Or EV is targeting for the rich buyer ?

  • Dino 64 : We will not have affordable or  middle/lower income availability is for a few years yet. . With oil on the rise it will effect the prices of everything.
When it costs you up to 40 percent to ship anything. Think about the effects those prices have on the rest of the economy.
Plus in all likelihood of the big 3 automakers are not going to have anything ready to be sold for a couple of years. So what happens in the meanwhile is middle and lower income people are going to bare the brunt of these increases.
It may speed things along but not at the speed we need. By the time these innovations and developments are made the middle and lower income people around the world are going to suffer from price increases in every area and facet of life.
This will cause problems around the world like none have seen before.
Unless this crisis in Europe ends swiftly. I feel the world economy is in real trouble.
Again I am new at all this. These are only my opinions  on how I seen these things play out in the past.
If you do believe in a higher power I would be asking for help. This is one of those pivotal times in history that will change human kind for the force able future.

  • Giovanni Ayala : 🤷🤷

  • Investing 101 102824031: you do know battery can mostly be recycled but emission from fossil fuel cant right?
