Elon Musk and dogecoin co-founder urge Twitter to regulate cryptocurrency scams
$Tesla(TSLA.US$ CEO Elon Musk has agreed to a comment by Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus that $Twitter (Delisted)(TWTR.US$ needs to curb cryptocurrency scam activity on its social media platform.
In January, Musk chastised Twitter for allowing users to use verified non fungible tokens (NFT) as profile images, claiming that $Twitter (Delisted)(TWTR.US$ was squandering resources. In 2021, cryptocurrency scammers stole about $8 billion from investors all across the world, Musk impersonators stole over $2 million in bitcoin giveaway scams, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Markus asked Twitter to take action on the "super irritating" cryptocurrency scams, to which Musk commented by saying, "Agreed. This has been broken for a long time."
