Do you have a love-hate relationship with stocks?
Views 95K Contents 353

Smooth seas don't make good sailors

Selecting stocks require lots of research, just like assessing your potential partner. You will have to spend time to do some assessment and seek to understand the stocks / person; and not rush into a relationship.
Once you have found a suitable stock / person that aligns with your future goals, go for it and stick to it. Just like any relationship, there will be ups and downs. At times, the ride can be so bumpy that you feel like giving up. But in situation like this, one should ask yourself why did you have such high conviction and belief in the stock / partner in the first place. Don’t give up easily if you’re in for a long term. You don’t change your partner every other month, unless you’re a player.
So accept the fact that there will be ups and downs, love and hate. Smooth seas don't make good sailors. So we all have to go through setbacks to make us a better investor and partner.
Examples of my love-hate with stocks are Apple, Nvidia, Facebook and Tesla

$Apple(AAPL.US)$ - wasn’t performing well at $130-$150 range last year when compared to other tech stocks. That was when I loaded up more shares and I’m glad that it is currently at the $170s range.
$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$ - it has fallen more than 25% from its ATH. It doesn’t feel good, but I believe in what they are doing and its future, so I’ll be adding more during this period
$Meta Platforms(FB.US)$ - one of the most controversial stocks at the moment. Haters gonna hate. For me, I hate it when the price is down so much, but I still see reasons to believe in them, and decided to give this relationship another chance. End of the day, if it doesn’t work, I’ll cut my ties with the stock, just like you don’t continue on with your partner when the relationship turns toxic.
$Tesla(TSLA.US)$ - very high volatility, and is currently stuck at 800-900 range. Hate it? Nah, love it as I can buy more, because I believe it will go back up to 1000. The love for the company and its stock will prevail!
