Belief driven by Covid

As much as I don't want to admit this but we are moving towards the metaverse era where reality gets 'uploaded' onto the metaverse.

In the good ol' days
The progressive step took place at least a decade ago, where online profiles $Meta Platforms(FB.US)$ represent individuals to the extent that it creates opportunities to perform social engineering and fake profile scams.
The current landscape
The whole pandemic moved the remnants of the conventional livelihood onto the online or virtual world when individuals are advised to stay at home in order to save lives. People got interested in purchasing virtual currencies $Bitcoin(BTC.CC)$ , virtual artworks and also virtual assets such as metaverse landspace etc.

The deal
Going back to the deal between $Microsoft(MSFT.US)$ and $Activision Blizzard(ATVI.US)$, clearly the assets with the latter would be highly sought after; given that the gaming juggernaut created a 'virtual gaming world' of its own decades back when games demanding regular payment weren't very favourable but yet the company made a breakthrough with that venture.

Afterthoughts
I would say that this move saved Microsoft decades in exploring the concept of the metaverse and ideology behind it.
Good call.
