Losses in Stock Market?

The longer one invests, the chance of making a loss on a bad stock pick, encountering major economy downturns or wrong timing of market entry/exit increases.
I am no stranger to such an occurrence. During the beginning of Covid, my portfolio took a significant hit even after stop losses. It was disheartening to see much less embrace.
A week long break to disengage was done. Primarily not to react emotionally and committing a graver mistake. Revaluation was par for the course. To determine if stock fundamentals etc were sound.
The next step was to change my mindset to a positive one. Declining stock markets mean opportunities and there was a red sea. By diligently picking up value stocks like $DBS Group Holdings(D05.SG)$, $SPDR S&P 500 ETF(SPY.US)$ among others, my upside was increased significantly when markets recovered.
