$TuSimple(TSP.US)$ December 30, Autonomous truck startup Tucson Future announced that its self-driving truck has successfully completed its first test on open roads. Tucson Future said its autopilot system, or ADS, traveled 80 miles along surface roads and freeways between a rail transfer point in Tucson, Ariz., and a distribution center in Phoenix without human intervention.
Tucson Future President and CEO Cheng Lu said this is an important milestone and the company will expand self-driving truck technology to special trucks by 2024.
