Today was a VERY low volume day for the market, but not for AMD.
NVDA had 85% of the average volume
AAPL about 60%
MSFT about 60%
AMD had about 95% of average daily volume
I don't think merger arbitrage fully explains everything because XLNX only had about 73% of average volume. I think folks are vanilla shorting AMD in anticipation of China approving the deal. Don't be discourage by today's price action. Those folks will have to cover as soon as the deal get approved
