2021 In Review
2021 marks another year of COVID-19 pandemic. Given that COVID-19 is now endemic and the emergence of new variants is inevitable, what can we do to protect our portfolios?
Ups and downs are unavoidable in investment. My investment philosphy is to counterbalance the fluctuations through diversification in quality assets and achieve positive growth in the overall portfolio over time.
Ups and downs are unavoidable in investment. My investment philosphy is to counterbalance the fluctuations through diversification in quality assets and achieve positive growth in the overall portfolio over time.
Being conservative, my portfolio has a greater allocation in less volatile assets like government bonds, bank stocks $DBS Group Holdings(D05.SG$ $OCBC Bank(O39.SG$ and S-REITS that pay good dividends $CapitaLandInvest(9CI.SG$ $Mapletree Log Tr(M44U.SG$ $Mapletree Ind Tr(ME8U.SG$ $CapLand IntCom T(C38U.SG$ $Suntec Reit(T82U.SG$ and indices like $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US$ . Although S-REITS have been impacted by a drop in tourist arrivals, WFH arrangements and COVID-19 restrictions, the dividends help to soothe the pain of the paper loss and I have belief the stocks will recover eventually. I have started investing in a small number of US growth stocks with strong fundamentals such as $Apple(AAPL.US$.

As I embark on my investment journey in 2022, I will stay the course of investing in quality dividend stocks while looking for opportunities to add stocks that are at good discounts or can become the next big thing.
