Long Term Investment vs Time

Time is probably the best tool we have to hedge against volatility.

Fear resulting from dips in retracements, market corrections etc. can influence us to exit the market. We might risk exiting the market prematurely and missing the entry points when the stock recovers or soars.

As the old adage goes, "Time in the market is better than timing the market". Time allows us to ride out the volatility year to year. Time also allows our stock picks the chance to shine.

That being said, adequate fundamental analysis has to be done to ensure the stock choice is sound. By understanding how time is our best tool, we can learn to take emotions out of investing and focus on the long term horizon.
